9th Annual Get - Together of Thane-Kasara-Karjat-Bhiwandi Local Committee

of Kulala Sangha-Mumbai celebrated its 9th Annual Get-together on Sunday,
20-01-2013 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm at Sarvesh Hall in Dombivali (E) with
participation of office-bearers and managing committee members of Kulala
Sangha-Mumbai, members of local committee and Kulala members. The president of
Kulala Sangha-Mumbai, Mr. P. K. Salian had presided over the function. Present
on the dais were Vice-president of Kulala Sangha-Mumbai Mr. P. Devadas L.
Kulal, Hon. Gen. Secretary Mr. P. Shekhar Moolya, Hon. Treasurer Mr. Karunakar

From 9:00 am to 11:00 am Bhajana Sankirtana was organized. Mr. Laxman C. Moolya invited the president and office-bearers of Kulala Sangha-Mumbai and the office-bearers of local committee on the dais. Thereafter the proceeding of stage program was set in motion with prayer by members of local Mahila Vibhag followed by welcome dance performed by Kum Minal Salian. All the dignitaries on the dais performed the ritual of lighting the holy lamp alongwith other inaugural rituals. Krishna S. Molya, while welcoming all the members and guests to the said function, briefed the audience on the various social, cultural, educational activities carried out by the local committee and attributed the success of those activities to whole-hearted support and co-operation of main committee of Kulala Sangha-Mumbai, the local committee members and local Kulala community members. Local committee joint secretary Mr. Anand B. Moolya presented the annual report of the last year. Treasurer Mr. Shekhar I. Moolya presented the income-expenditure account for the last year.
In his speech Mr. P. Shekhar Moolya congratulated the local committee members for having organized the function of the day in a meticulous and disciplined manner and said that the achievements and performance of the local committee during the past 9 years are commendable which had helped in creating the awareness among the local Kulala members on the various projects and activities of the Sangha.
In between the proceedings, a lecture on “Tulunada Culture” by Mr. Thonse Vijayakumar Shetty of “Kalajagattu, Mumbai” was organized. In his lecture, Mr. Vijayakumar Shetty narrated the rich heritage of Tulu Culture, its various rituals, healthy customs etc and expressed his profound grief that those rich customs/rituals are slowing vanishing due to the fast urbanization and modern-age life-style. He said that our Tulu culture has its own richness, beauty but our today’s young generations have been deprived from getting accustomed to our cultural customs. In that direction, even the parents have become mute spectators to the changing life-style. He urged the parents to wake up and educate their children on Tulu culture so that together with today’s life-style of internet, TVs and mobiles, our own culture can also survive. He also explained the importance and significance of various festivals that are being celebrated in our culture.
On this occasion, the sincere, hardworking and selfless workers of local committee Mr. K. Devendra Thane, Mr. Jagadish R. Banjan & Mrs. Namruta J. Banjan Ambernath and Mr. Nandakumar Sheena Moolya Thane were felicitated with shawl, bouquet etc. The kind-hearted donors Mr., Jagadish R. Banjan Ambernath, Mr. K. Devendra Thane, Mrs. Sujaya Banjan Bhiwandi, Miss Chaitra D. Moolya, Kalyan and Miss Pavitra D. Moolya, Kalyan - who are bearing yearly educational expenses of certain poor students of the region – were also felicitated with shawl, flower bouquets. Besides, the talented students who secured highest marks in HSC, SSC examinations were also felicitated.
In his presidential speech, Mr. P. K. Salian said – “The very purpose with which our ancestors formed the Sangha has now been fulfilled with the advent of various local committees of the Sangha. The work-ethic and tremendous achievements of all the local committees have helped the noble aims and objects of the Sangha to reach out to most of our Kulala members in Mumbai and its suburbs. Thane-Karjat-Kasara-Bhiwandi local committee has also helped tremendously towards the cause. He goaded all the members to come forward to take active part in all the activities to strengthen the hands of Sangha. He requested the members to patronize Amoolya through membership and advertisements and also requested all to avail the various facilities of Jyothi Co-op Credit Society.
After lunch, fancy dress competition was organized for small kids as part of cultural program. Thereafter the various items of cultural event unfolded with younger and elder members of local committee taking part in various dance and other items with enthusiasm. The entire proceedings were compared by Mr. D. I. Moolya and Mr. Laxman C. Moolya. In the end, Mr. Laxman C. Moolya delivered Vote of Thanks.
