Preliminary Meet for formation of CST-MULUND-MANKHURD Local Committee
Mumbai: “The huge development achieved by Kulala Sangha over the years has been possible only due to the dedicated and selfless services by all the local committees of the Sangha. The five local committees are equivalent to 10 hands of support for the Sangha which is a very strong and healthy sign for its overall growth” – said Mr. P. K. Salian, President of Kulala Sangha-Mumbai on the occasion of preliminary meet held for formation of CST-Mulund-Mankhurd local committee of Kulala Sangha-Mumbai on 9-9-2012 at 3:30 p.m. at Azad Mahila Sangha hall, Sion. Addressing the large gathering, he also said – “We assure you that we haven’t abandoned the plan for constructing the Kulala Bhavan in our property at Thane-Ghodbander Road. It is the necessity of huge funds required for the said Kulala Bhavan that has made us to postpone the idea for the time-being and shift our focus to build a new Kualala Bhavan in our property at Mangalore. Once the construction of new Kulala Bhavana in Mangalore is completed and commissioned, the generating income from the same will be channelized to Mumbai to build the Kulala Bhavan in Mumbai-Maharashtra. Please patronize the Sangha-organized “Kulala Dance festival” at Sir Vishweshwarayya Hall of Karnataka Sangha, Matunga (W) on 16-9-2012 at 2:30 p.m. with your gracious presence and whole-hearted support. I wish all the best to this newly formed local committee in its future endeavours and activities under the guidance and control of the Sangha”.

He recalled the successful organizing of recent “Food Festival” by Mahila Ghatak and also updated the gathering on the forthcoming “Kulala Dance Festival” scheduled to be held at Sir Vishweshwarayya Hall, Matunga and requested all to attend the same in large numbers.
Mr. P. Devadas L. Kulal expressed his gratitude to our forefathers whose dedication and sacrifice established Kulala Sangha in 1929 and sustained it over the years to grow into a prestigious organization in Mumbai circle. He also said that without seeking self-publicity and showmanship, we all must aim to make the Sangha still stronger in order to benefit all the sections of our community. He requested all non-members of our community to enroll as members of the Sangha, Amoolya and Jyothi Co-op Credit Society.
Mr. Girish B. Salian pointed out that the date chosen for this preliminary meet was very auspicious as it was the day after “Sri Krishna Janmashtami’ which is called ‘Mosaru Kudike’. He said that there will be questions as to why the formation of 5th local committee is required, but the ever-growing activities of the Sangha warranted the formation of various committees for proper and effective channelization and delegation of Sangha’s social and cultural activities. He also briefed on the benefits and facilities offered by Jyothi Co-op Credit Society and urged the people to avail maximum benefit from the society.
Mr. Krishna S. Moolya compared 5 local committees to ‘Pancha Pandavas’ and wished good luck to the latest local committee. He also requested to embark on a ‘membership’ drive for Kulala Sangha as there are many of our community people in Mumbai and its suburbs who haven’t yet become members of the Sangha. Commencing his speech with the saying “Pancham Karyasiddhi”, Mr. Sadananad Kumar Salian said that this local committee will give great opportunity to Kulala members of this area and provide them required exposure to come out into limelight and work for the betterment of the Sangha. Mr. Raghu B. Moolya said that many Kulala people in this region are not aware of Kulala Sangha and its socio-beneficial programmes and activities. Hence, the formation of this local committee will help to locate such people and bring them to main stream of the Sangha. He hoped that the dream of Kulala Bhavan in Maharashtra soil which has remained only a dream so far in the last 83 years, would soon become a reality.
Mr. Narayan Nethrakere, in his speech, stated that ‘Unity is Strength’ and nothing can be achieved if there is no unity. Kulala Sangha is today on a strong foothold because of the unflinching unity of its members, office bearers and all. When there is unity all around, no one can destroy or fail an institution. He also said that any institution or organization survives only due to the selfless, sincere, hardworking and dedicated work by its members and Kulala Sangha is no exception to this rule. He concluded the speech with a request to the audience to patronize Amoolya with advertisements, membership and articles.
Mrs. Rajeshwari Nethrakere congratulated Sangha’s stalwarts belonging to CST-Mulund-Mankhurd region for efficiently organizing the preliminary meet for the benefit of community people of this region and to share the responsibility of taking the ‘aims and objectives’ of Kulala Sangha to people. Though there was a concern that main Mahila Ghataka could become marginalized due to the formation of various Mahila Ghataks at all local committee levels, the grand success of recently organized ‘Food Festival’ belies any such doubts – she said. She requested all Mahila members to come forward to assist the Sangha in implementation of its social and cultural activities. She also requested all Mahila committee members to attend the meetings regularly with full attendance so as to interact mutually with better ideas, suggestions and plans for the betterment of Kulala women.
Mr. Shankar Y. Moolya (ex Hon.Genc. Secretary of Kulala Sangha) in his speech stated that we, Kulalas, have progressed considerably in all the fields except in political field. If we are able to have proper representation from our community in politics, all our financial woes would be lessened and we can aim for bigger and better plans for the community. He also requested everyone to contribute to the project of new ‘Kualal Bhavana’ in Mangalore by giving minimum Rs.25,000 each in the form of deposits refundable with simple interest after completion of the project. Mr. Laxman C. Moolya highlighted the vast benefit that could be seen by the advent of various local committees. For example, in Dombivli area, there are several Kulala families which were unknown to us before the formation of local committee. Over the years, there were a lot of social activities undertaken by local committees such as free-book distribution, assistance in difficulty, adoption of financially-weak students by members fo local committees etc.
Mr. B. Dinesh Kulal explained the various modalities and procedure of “Kulala Dance Festival” scheduled to be held at Sir Vishweshwarayya Hall Matunga on 16-9-2012 and informed that there has been good and encouraging response from Kulala public for the said event.
