NEW KULALA BHAVANA - MANGALORE PROJECT
FOUNDATION STONE LAYING CEREMONY
Mangalore: New “Kulala Bhavana – Mangalore” is the dream project of Kulala Sangha – Mumbai. His Holy Highness Sri Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji of Odiyooru Kshethra laid the foundation stone for this new project on Friday, 27-April-2012. His Holy Highness Sri Sri Mohanadasa Swamiji of Manila Sridhama Mahalakshmi Kshethra graced the occasion with his divine presence. The president of Kulala Sangha-Mumbai Mr. P. K. Salian presided over the function that took place after the foundation stone was laid.
Mayor of Mangalore Municipal Corporation Smt. Gulzar Banu, Managing Trustee of Mangaladevi Temple Mr. P. Ramanath Hegde, Mangalore Municipal Corporator Mr. Premanand Shetty, President of D. K. Kulala Sangha Mangalore Mr. Lakshman Kunder, President of Mumbai Devadaiga Sangha Mr. H. Mohandas, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporator Mr. Santhosh Shetty were present as Chief Guests.
While blessing the gathering, Sri Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji said - “Kulala community has introduced civilization to the world. Kulalas have special place in our mythology and history. Pottery is the profession of Kulala community and the pots are always a basic necessity during the life of a human being ever since he is born till death. Hence Kulalas are rightfully “Kuladeepaks” for the entire mankind”
Sri Sri Mhanadas Swamiji blessed the gathering and told – “This prestigious new project will be an important Gift by Kulala Sangha-Mumbai to the hometown. Let the project complete in double quick time”.
Mr. P. K. Salian informed the audience – “The past Presedints, committee members and office bearers of the Sangha got together with senior Kulala persons and provided us this most valuable property. The property bought in 1979 is worth several crore Rupees in present market. As a symbol of pride for Kulala community, this new Kulala Bhavana project must come up at this place with the co-operation of all of you”.
The main office bearers of all social organizations of Kulala community, Cultural and Religious Centres were felicitated during the occasion. In his informal speech, Mr. P. Devadas L . Kulal gave brief history of Kulala Sangha-Mumbai and its step-by-step progress since formation till-date. Mr. M. K. Sitharam Kulal explained the details of the project. The estimated cost of New Kulala Bhavana would be in the region of Rs. 4 Crores. The Bhavana will have basement, ground floor and 4 floors. Area of each floor will be about 10,000 Square feet. In the first phase, basement, ground and 1st floor project will be completed and the construction work of other floors will be taken up in 2nd phase. Mr. B. Dinesh Kulal briefed the audience with the details of financial aspect of the project, with projected plan for collection of funds by way of donations & refundable deposits and schedule of repayment of refundable deposits with simple interest after the completion of project.
During the occasion, special mention was made of the whole-hearted service by Dr. H. M. Subbiah, Dr. Ammembala Balappa, J. Rama Tailor Jeppu who always supported and assisted Kulala Sangha in its every activity. Late Bantwal Babu Salian who gave highest donation for the construction of existing Kulala Bhavana & Hostel Building, Late Manjeshwar Janardhan who fought and saved a part of 60 cents’ property for the Sangha when Town Development authorities tried to acquire it and Late S. B. Salian who always gave great co-operation to the Sangha were also remembered.

Shekhar Moolya delivered the Vote of Thanks. Stage artist Mr. H. K. Nayanadu compered the proceedings of the function. During the beginning and closing of the function, the members of “Ocean Kids Dance Troupe” rendered entertainment events.
